Members will no doubt be aware that The Open returns to Royal Birkdale in 2026 (12 - 20 July). As a Club, we have said we are wanting to be involved with marshalling duties as we have done previously. When details of this are available, then we will distribute for people and start asking for volunteers. In the short term, we have been asked to put forward Hole Controllers for the event. We have already had some interest in doing this by some previous incumbents but if there are any other members who would be interested in putting their name forward to Council to take on a Hole Controller or Deputy role at this event, please let the club know by Friday 12 September 2025. Don't forget, one of the best ways to access Information about the Golf Club as simply and regularly as possible is to download the Club V1 Members Hub App, which is essentially our Members log in for our Website but in a downloadable app form for those with smartphones. You can simply search 'ClubV1' in your store directly and it should take you to the download page. Clicking on the Members Hub, link on our SOLGC Club Website website will also allow you to access and view the information from the club in a desktop form as well. You should be able to log in using your How Did I Do, log in credentials or you can create a How Did I Do passport log in, should you not be a playing member or just haven't set up How Did I Do previously. Any issues with this, don't hesitate to ask the office or a willing member who has already gone through the relatively simple process.
